At Sublime Flooring, we have on display a fabulous range of solid timber flooring for you to choose from. Our range ensures that we can customise your flooring to suit your requirements, with a variety of grades on offer from Select, which is a very clean look, through to Rustic, which has natural feature such as Gum Veins and Knots, a very sought after look. Depending on what style you want to create, there’s definitely something for everyone.

Solid Timber floors are a great investment adding value to your property, with proper care can last a lifetime.

Solid timber being a raw product, is more expensive option than an Engineered prefinished board. After installation the floors still need to be sanded and coated. However this enables you to choose the finish or colour you want to achieve, whether it be a water-based coating, oiled or stained, to suit your personal taste.

Some Australian species are available as Engineered Prefinished boards creating an identical look to solid timber. These boards being prefinished save time and money on site installations.

Solid Timber Floor Grading

Timber is graded visually at the mill when the boards are sawn.

The size and number of features on the boards ie. insect trails, gum vein, knots etc. are taken into consideration when grading, in accordance with Australian Standard AS 2796.

Timber is not graded for colour or length of the board.

Select Grade	Select Grade timber has a relatively small amount of natural feature, if any at all, depending on the species. This gives the board a very clean look, being more uniform in appearance.
Standard Grade	Standard grade has a moderate amount of natural feature, slightly more than Select grade, the timber will have a little more character. Some species are more susceptible to gum vein and insect trails and may have slightly more feature in this grade.
Rustic Grade	Rustic Grade has heavier natural feature, lots of gum veins, knots etc. which in some cases may need to be filled in. This does not compromise the quality of the floorboard. This look has become very sought after, giving a more natural look, with a lot of character.
Other grades	Some mills do produce grades between Select and Standard for example Prestige Grade and Standard and Better Grade. These would generally be a mix of Select and Standard Grades.
